Baytown’s “Beak of the Month” is the Roseate Spoonbill!

Spoonbills can be found year round along the Texas Gulf Coast. They get their name from their long, slender spoon shaped bills that help them forage for shrimp, crustaceans, and other small fish. Another identifying characteristic of the spoonbill is the pink color on their plumage and legs. This color comes from the red and yellow carotenoids found in the food they eat like shrimp!

The best place in Baytown to check out this beautiful bird is the Baytown Nature Center! #iHeartBaytown #Birding #WhatILikeAboutTexas
